Canola Oil
There are coconut trees, and olive trees, but no Canola trees. Canola oil is not a natural oil but the commercial name of a genetically modified version of Rapeseed (which is toxic). The health risks of consuming foods that contain canola oil include:
  • Canola depletes Vitamin E
  • Canola increases the rigidity of membranes, which can trigger degenerative diseases
  • Because of canolaʼs high sulphur content, it goes rancid easily; which can exacerbate allergies and compound problems
    for people with bronchial or asthmatic issues.
  • Human studies reveal canola causes an increase in lung cancer;
  • Canola can shorten the lifespan of animals and can lower your platelet count;
  • Daily canola consumption can raise your triglycerides by over 40 percent.
  • Canola oil moulds quickly and also inhibits enzyme function.
  • It opens the door to free radicals, undermining natural antioxidants, and can be linked to an increased incidence of many diseases.
  • Canola leaves no foul taste when itʼs spoiled, so itʼs hard to tell if youʼre eating rancid erucic acid.
    Note: There is no such thing as GMO-free Canola oil.
  • Maltodextrin
    This is a highly processed food additive usually made from genetically modified (GMO) corn. Protein companies use it to make their products mix easier.

    SOY and Sunflower Lecithin
    These common food additives are used to thicken protein powders and other foods. Soy lecithin is particularly troubling. To make it, soybean oil (GMO unless it says “organic” or “non-GMO verified”) is extracted from raw soybeans using a chemical solvent (usually hexane), then dried and bleached.
    3 Reasons to Say No to Eating Soy Foods:
  • Soy Disrupts Our Sex Hormones. Soy is known as a phyotestrogen;
  • Soy Disrupts Our Thyroid. The thyroid is part of the endocrine system, just as the sex hormones are, so these two issues are intimately related; and

  • Soy Contains Anti-Nutrients. More on Soy products:
  • Research has revealed that Soy (which is one of the most popular, low-calorie, high-protein foods) is actually linked to the development of cancer. It turns out that eating soy, which is an incredibly versatile product that is used in a variety of food stuffs, can actually cause cancer genes to be turned on.
  • Isoflavones are a component of soybeans that are very similar to estrogen. Estrogen can promote cancer growth and proliferation; which has led to rising concerns over the safety of soy products.
  • Soy products are not just associated with cancer, there are many other potentially harmful aspects to soy. For example, some 90 percent of all soybeans are genetically modified and most are heavily treated with pesticides. In addition to concerns about the isoflavones in soy products, there is also reason to be concerned about the enzyme inhibitors which are also present, since these are another potential avenue through which cancer may be caused. Studies show that animals fed enzyme inhibitors developed pathological conditions of the pancreas, including pancreatic cancer.
  • Soybeans can also interfere with nutrient absorption. The phytic acid in soy prevents the body from properly absorbing essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc.
  • Soy products are often touted as amazing health foods, but nothing could be further from the truth. Though it is true that Asian cultures have been consuming soy for thousands of years, it is only when they figured out how to ferment soybeans that they began to consume them. This is because the fermentation process helps to rid soybeans of their toxic elements, such as nitrites and goitrogens.
  • Xanthan Gum
    This is produced by bacterial fermentation of a sugar-containing medium — usually a potentially allergenic or GMO-containing substance such as corn, soy, dairy, or wheat. Xanthan gum has been shown to have a major laxative effects.

    Methyl Cellulose
    This is a synthetically produce fibrous powder, highly processed multipurpose food ingredient. This chemical compound is derived from cellulose, and used as a thickener and emulsifier food additive.

    Maltodextrin
    Is a polysaccharide that is used as a food additive. It is produced from starch by partial hydrolysis and is usually found as a white hygroscopic spray dried powder. It is easily digestible Being absorbed as glucose and maybe moderately sweet or almost flavourless. It is commonly used as an ingredient in highly processed foods. These ingredients found in most convenient foods, along with Xanthan gum, and guaranteed gum (products that are mixed with fermenting sugars with bacteria, then precipitated with iso propyl alcohol), help manufactures demand for shelf-stable products. These inclusions in our food can interfere with our adequate absorption of nutrients.
    Sugar alcohols, artificial sweeteners, and low calorie additives often used in foods deemed HEALTHY.

    Not all alternative sugars/ sweeteners or food flavour enhancers are suitable as options for healthier choices. Sugarless & low or no calorie substitutes, are highly processed, even if they are plant derived originally.

    When these sugar alcohols, & extremely processed sweet additions, enter our systems, they create a response that has our bodies react in defence of itself, raising the alarm to shield the organs from the ‘unknown’.

    The job of the FAT CELL, is to swell up, absorb the foreign invaders, & keep it from harming the bodies organs. In a perfect scenario, the body would ‘empty out the trash’, but the fat cells have no further instruction, so they HOLD the enemy, storing it as FAT. You have to manually detox to rid the toxins out of your system.

    Chemical artificial sweeteners & flavour enhancers, are used as a sugar alternative in various Healthy food offerings. This very highly processed, sugar free, fat free/ low calorie alternative, & sugar alcohols can have an extremely negative effect on our bodies with ongoing use.

    Sugar Alcohols

    Sugar Substitutes Such as sorbitol or xylitol, Popular because they offer fewer calories but are really NOT absorbed easily by the body & therefore can create disharmony as a result. - gas, abdominal pain, bloating & diarrhoea. Mother Nature, did not invent the long long long shelf of life that we have for our convenience now... Stay as close as possible to TRUE FOOD and all else is a sweet treat, a celebration & if we are eating in moderation? " we can all have our cake and eat it too
